      small for $2.50
      large for $5.75

Yesterday she made $56.  Before her shop opened that morning, she had 200 mugs.  At the end of the day she has 188 mugs.

How many mugs of each kind (price/size) did she sell?  Show work or explain your strategy.

Extra Credit Opportunity!

Today students received an extra credit opportunity worth 5 points.  The assignment is due by Friday October 25th.

Ø Come up with your own mnemonic device for order of operations!  (a phrase different from Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally)

Ø List your new mnemonic device and then give an example of a problem underneath.  The problem must use every step of order of operations (every letter).  Solve the problem showing all work.

Ø All parts of the assignment should be done neatly on cardstock in pen or marker.  (I would try it in pencil on scratch paper first!)

You may earn up to 5 points earned in the following way:

He watched sports half the time, movies one third of the time, and cartoons the rest of the time.

How many minutes did he watch cartoons?  Show work!

Benchmark #1 Alert!

We are having our first benchmark on Wednesday and Thursday of this week (October 23rd and 24th).  The content will cover everything we have learned so far this year.  Students received a study guide today.  Wednesday will be the multiple choice (30 points), and Thursday will be the open ended response (4 pts).  Both of these grades do count for the nine weeks grade.
